As a composer, I believe the roles of an artist in the 21st century include creator, educator, activist, and entrepreneur. 21st-century artists are thinking about how they can effect change in their communities, both locally and globally. At National Sawdust, our core mission is to support emerging artists and nurture a wide array of voices, collectively reshaping the new music landscape for this new century. –Paola Prestini, Composer, Co-Founder and Artistic Director
